Meditation and WHY you should start!

You may think as I did that you are too busy to meditate. I would like to take a few moments of your time to convince you why you should start. It could be the start of a new and more empowered you....

Firstly I have learnt that meditation does not have to be done whilst sitting quietly with your legs crossed in a perfectly peaceful space. Yes shocking I know, hello! I have three kids, I am constantly rushing from one place to another being chef, cleaner, taxi, nurse, etc.

You working people have really got it tough - deadlines, meetings, dinner, drinks, posting about said dinner and drinks...when have you got time to meditate I hear you cry! Also WHY would you even start?

Well let me let you into a little secret - meditation can be so empowering for YOU. It is a little slice of heavenly you time in this crazy hyper connected world we live in. The secret is that you don't need an hour, you don't even need half an hour you can meditate in a few seconds if that's all you've really really got!

Meditation is simply the practice of stopping your mind from racing. It is going inwards, that is why a lot of meditations focus on your breath. Breathing in and out with your eyes open or closed can be extremely soothing - even if the baby is crying again or the "baby" at work is whining about something again!

Meditation tip for total beginners: don't worry if you're mind starts wandering! As long as you NOTICE that your mind is wandering you can give yourself a pat on the back - good job. It will get easier and easier to stay focused on your breath or keeping your mind clear as you practice.

I personally prefer GUIDED MEDITATIONS. This for me has been a game changer. I just could not get my mind to stop wandering on my own - I am a list maker and a hyper vigilant all around people pleaser, so when I found guided meditation it was such a relief.

YouTube is a great resource for guided meditation. You can type in any issue you are having and a whole lot of meditations will come up. I have been inspired to start my own YouTube Channel : Leading Light with Naomi, where I put my Guided Meditations...you're welcome to check it out! They are about 10 minutes long and they are quite active meditations rather than passively just trying to clear your mind.

By active meditations I don't mean running around the room...more like challenging your visualisation skills to see for instance your worries melting down your body, or a ball of light growing brighter and larger in your chest as you intensify your ability to manifest.

If you want to be able to manifest I would highly recommend learning to meditate. Whilst you are in a meditative state is an excellent time to manifest as your intention, desires and connection to your higher source is so much stronger when you are calm and relaxed.

Even if you just do it for the relaxation value - a way to quickly energise yourself for whatever challenges lie ahead for you that day. We are constantly giving of ourselves and depleting our precious energy. Meditation is a way for you to take back some of the energy and power for yourself.

So, I hope I have convinced you to at least give Guided Meditation a try...it is worth persevering with. Often it is more about finding the right Guided Meditation style as they are not all created equal and someone else's favourite may not be the one that does it for you.

Also its worth remembering, as with any new skill you aren't going to be fantastic first try. However once you can connect with the true inside you - you can then manifest a whole lot in the outside world, it is truly amazing how powerful meditation can be.

Sending you love and light, Naomi x

I used to think meditation was pointless because honestly I just didn’t know where to start or couldn’t be bothered. but reading this has made me want to start meditating, even if it’s not everyday. Naomi has made it seem less daunting especially because my initial worry was always that my mind tends to wander when I have tried it. Thank you Naomi! X
